Default question about any alarm system that flashes your head light ...

when you arm and disarm your alarm and also when your alarm goes off, will your head light flashes? the HID light or the high beam light?

cause i am going to have an aftermarket alarm installed. just wondering if the alarm should flash the HID or the high beam.

thanks

I don't think you can "flash" the HID's. They need time to warm up and "flashing" is too short a time interval for them to actually do anything.

I think that it's up to the installer. They can hook it up to anything they want. I would suggest not to hook it up to the HID for the reason xviper mentioned. But if they hook it up to the hibeams, depending on how it's hooked up, both hi and HID lights may flash. My aftermarket alarm is hooked up to the emergency flasher (at least for the arm /disarm). I'm not sure what will flash when the alarms is tripped. It's only been tripped accidentally (by me) and the horn scares the hell out of me so I disarm it ASAP without checking which lights are flashing.

My alarm is also hooked up to the parking lights and flashes them. Since we have HIDs, I wouldn't hook up the alarm to flash the headlights.
