Default Question about burned clutches...

Hi

I was wondering where a good place to buy and install a new clutch (any kind) for an s2000 here in Santa Barbara, California. Any good competitive prices out there? I know installation is going to cost me an arm and a leg, but I was wondering if you guys knew a nice place that isn't as expensive as a dealer.

I just bought my s2000 not too long ago, and apparently the clutch was in bad condition when I got it. It's a 2001 with just 20k miles (can you believe that? i still can't believe this). The owner before me musta been really bad at stick? I don't know. I do need to get this fixed because the sound it makes when I slow down is terrible.

Anyways, comments? suggestions? Any are appreciated.

Just some background info:
My car is completely stock. It's a 2001 with 20k miles.

Oh yeah and its Spa Yellow Pearl too

take a look around for TSB-054

the car would make an aweful noise on decel. (hopefully your car was purchaed by the orig owner in late 01 then you would still be under warrantee)

most dealers will fix it for free if they can duplicate the problem

you'll get a new clutch with better springs - ask them if they will either give you a new flywheel or pay to have the flkywheel resurfaced

good luck

Stock clutch on S2000 is worthless. I have a 2001(out of warranty) with 19k miles and had it replaced with Clutch Master and alum flywheel for less than what the dealer wanted to charge for a new clutch.

Mid-Valley auto in Canoga Park. Tony appears to do a good job.

Fadi, what symptoms are you experiencing to suggest the clutch needs replacement?

I think thats normal that it makes the noise on the decel. I dunno if it was an issue in the 2001's as well as the 2000's. Mine is loud on the decel, but its normal according to all of the other threads I've read on the early model s2000's.
