Question about burned clutches...
Oh, by the way Paul. I go to college at UCSB. My permanent home is in San Diego. When I went to the Honda dealer over there, they told me that the clutch is a "wear and tear" part (like breaks). They said warranty doesn't cover it.
I also have this other warranty that I pay 15 dollars a month for from the Nissan Dealer I purchased the car from. It's doubtful they'll cover it. I can give you more information on this stuff if you need it.

FadiiS2K, if San Luis Obispo isn't too far for you to go, bring your S to me at Sunset Honda, 805-544-9500. If your car is still under basic warranty, less than 3 years/36,000 miles, warranty repair should be no problem. If your S was first purchased more than three years ago, I may still be able to do a goodwill repair for you. Just did one of these today for another guy who spends time on this board. We installed a replacement OE disc with an aftermarket flywheel & cover assembly which he supplied. You can reach me at extension 632. Let me know if I can help.

Know anyone in the Atlanta area with the same attitude?
Fadi, the dealer you visited was right, the clutch is a wear item. But, unusual noises from the clutch like you described would not usually be associated with wear, and therefore should be covered under basic warranty. I can't account for some of the decisions made at other stores. All I can say is that at this store, if a vehicle has a problem, and if we feel that AHM will pay the claim, we're glad to perform the repair. We don't care who pays, the customer or AHM, it's all Service Dept. income to us. We'll never defraud Honda with a phoney claim, but whenever there's a question as to a claim's validity, we try to give the customer the benefit of the doubt. If we're unsure we're making the correct decision at this level, guidance from AHM is a simple phone call away.
Apex, in response to you're question about dealers in the Atlanta area, sorry but I'm not able to help you. Don't know anything about any of the stores there. Call around though, I'm sure there are some good ones in the area.

Colin,
Don't know where you got your info, but it's incorrect. TSB's are bulletins provided by AHM to dealerships as an information tool for use in performing the correct repair for a problem. During the basic warranty period of 3yr/36,000 miles the vehicle has warranty coverage regardless of the number of owners, and TSB's can be used as a reference to perform the necessary repair. I know this is correct, as I'm a Honda service manager.

Sorry, I was thinking of a goodwill TSB repair out of warranty. Of course if a car is under new car warranty this is different. Here at our store, if a customer has done all their recommend service 'by the book" we will do quite a bit of goodwill work even if it's slightly out of warranty.
