Default question about vin sticker on door jam

Hey all, just a quick question

long story short, my car recently got into a accident involving the left rear end of the car. I just got it back from the shop today and noticed that the vin sticker is not on the door jam. I asked them about it and said if they would have ripped it off it would be say void on it. So I recieved the vin sticker cut out attached to an old piece of metal of my car.

I had the guy call Honda asking if I can get a new one but they don't seem to want to make one?? .. has anybody delt with this. I'm going to call Honda tommorow myself and see what the heck I can do.. Isn't that something that is important to have on the car.. especially interms of resale value??

Sorry if this was confusing.
Thanks all

Basically, you now have a wrecked car and the VIN missing from the door frame's a sign that it was wrecked. I think they VIN tag everything not only to prevent stealing, after all anyone can peal the tag off if they stole the bumper or something but, to show the car's been damaged and then repaired.

It's one of the signs I look for when I buy a car, does all the sheet metal match the main VIN. I check the front and rear bumpers for replacement too.

It'll definitly affects resale. I'd be interested in what Honda has to say. I'm guessing you're SOL.

The VIN# is specific to the original door. Don't attempt to have the original # incorporated onto your replacement. The next owner has the right to know that your door was replaced.
When you sell or trade the car, be up-front about your replacement. Since your car has been repaired, everyone interested in buying has a right to know.
