Question about wheel sizing....

Don't know if everyone knows about this or not.
When looking at wheel sizes and offsets, is there a standard clearance between the spokes and the brake calipers that all wheel manufactures are guided by?
Looking at soooo many wheels with different offsets, I wonder about the high offset ones if the spoke is going to hit the brake caliper! Especially in the front!
Is this something I should worry about?
