Default question for anyone that has done emc2's autoloc install

I got the intructions from www.cornfish.com. Anyway, on the driver side it talkes about connector side/door side wiring on steps 6c-f. The passanger side talks about connector size/dash side on steps 6a-d, and the convertible top, it talks about connector side/console side on steps 5b-e.

Anyone care to elaborate on what the connector side, and door side, dash side, and console sides are? They aren't as self explanitory as it seems. How do you know which side is which? If its refferring to sides on how you place the autoloc unit, obviously I could flip it aorund ot place it upside down, and that would change which side is which. So how do you know which side is which for when you connect the wires?

See it says for example:

Brown - Pin 5 (red/black) Connector side
Green - Pin 5 (red/block) Door side
White - Pin 3 (red/yellow) Connector side
Blue - Pin 3 (Red/Yellow) Door side

And I'm like huh, how do you know which side is which since they aren't labelled as to what side is what.

In most cases, the wiring is something like this:

connector (plug) |--------uncut--wire----------| door/console/top module harness

When you cut the wire to attach the module, you have:

connector side : connector (plug) |---------~ <cut>
door/console/top side: <cut> ~---------------| door/console/top

A different colored wire will connecte to each 'side' when you cut the existing wire.

ah I understand what he's trying to say now, thanks! I was thinking in my mind to not cut the wire and just cut into the insulation and connect the autoloc wire to it without cutting the wire that goes from the connector to the door. duh me

I guess I should have Cornfish make a change to the instructions. Since it is unclear now that I read again.

The black wire is the ground so you would want to tap into it not cut. Sorry for the confusion.

Also when I say connector side and door side it is meant for the up or down wire you are cutting. After it is cut you have one side that is still attached to the connecting plug for the stock switch (connector side) and one that runs into the door which goes to the motor (door side).

***edit*** Just like SC_Highlander showed. Sorry I didn't see that you explained it already. Thanks
