Anyways I've had both, I like the AP2 better but it's definitely lacking with the quality. My trim around my mirrors is crusting and my drivers seat cracked in several places. Disappointing to say the least. I also prefer the handling characteristics of the AP2.

 

Let's stay on topic so this thread (which is about S2000s) does not have to get moved to Car Talk or some other forum for comparisons of other cars.

people seem to be forgetting what this thread is about. its about the features you like about the ap1 or ap2. not what features make one better than the other. both have different features which give each one different personalities. but in the end, their still an S. I've driven both and there are things I like about both. but i prefer an ap1. next.

 

coming from an AP1 owner... I originally wanted an AP2 for the interior and exterior upgrades. The ap1 just looks dated IMO (I have an 01 btw)from the plastic rear window to the carpet center console. I was lucky enough to find an AP1 with AP2 upgrades like the front end minus the headlights, so remember you can always just do ap2 upgrades on an ap1 as an option.

Another thing I would like to add is... day to day driving I would like the extra torque that comes with the AP2 would make day to day driving a lot more pleasant... bogging around especially on hot days definitely puts a damper on the experience.

 

I do like the AP2 looks better but I think my '02-03 with AP2v1 wheels makes a big difference. Glass rear window, leather console, chrome rings in the taillights, and mostly just those wheels. To me those make most of the difference and I don't want the other AP2 appearance stuff so much anymore.

I'm not a big fan of the AP2 radio door, just seems like they threw some metallic trim in an otherwise black interior, although I guess it works better with non-black seats/panels. I do want the nicer + more functional AP2 console though, too bad it's like $300 used! I also like how the AP2 has more markings for the water temp... having just 3 lights to tell you it's up to temp in the AP1 is kind of lacking.

All small details but makes a difference.
