As a "moderate conservative" (and a Vintage Owner) I agree with most all of the above.

Even Consumers' Reports says "Reliability has been excellent."

So far only have 3,200 miles on an '03. Car has used one fifth of a quart of oil. This is the first car I've ever owned that came with zero defects of any kind (knock wood).

It's easy to drive in traffic and a whole lot of fun when the road gets twisty. Not a great freeway cruiser (noise, stiff ride over uneven pavement), however. That may be a matter of taste. All the other roads make up for it.

Enjoy!

[biased]S2000 is the most reliable roadster out there[/biased]

But seriously Honda products are highly ranked for one thing: R-e-l-i-a-b-i-l-i-t-y

Smokee, the S2000 is one of the most reliable sports cars out there. However, since you are planning to drive it more conservatively, you may want to consider the '04 S2000. It's engine will be stroked to slightly larger than the current S's (2.2L) and will have a slightly softer suspension than the current. It would be more drivable in your situation.

My car only burns tires and maybe a clutch every 20,000 miles and I drive it hard as well as race it. IMO the reliability of this car has been awesome considering the way I use it. Even if you like to get a little crazy every once in a while you will be alright. If you never do, I wouldn't even worry about it. Plus you will have a warranty for the first 3 years.

I have a 2000 with 36k on it. Use it only in good weather, commute to work. Drive on vtec several times a day, don't stay in vtec very long. No real problems with the car. I mostly enjoy it on weekend joy rides.
I am 6'2", 230lbs and don't think I'd buy another S2000 for commute car just because it's not comfortable in stop and go rush hour traffic, and the oem audio sucks.
I might get an Audi TT . It has more leg room and a good sound system and is OK to drive.... nothing like an S2000, but OK.

We fit your criteria perfectly and have owned the car for nearly 4 years. No problems at all. Just tires so far. Go for it.
