i usually shit between 3-4k rpm's. If you feel a bit notchy/grind between 1st and 2nd, one way around this is instead of shifting straight through to second, when you get into neutral position from 1, make a very subtle side to side motion then slip it into 2nd. This allows the synchro's do its work and smooths the shift.

so you're saying bumpy as in the shifter being bumpy/notchy/hard to get into 2nd or the car jerks when you let go of the clutch pedal after shifted into 2nd?

i shift at 1-2 and 2-3, i shift at 5500, then 3.5/4k for the rest of the gears.

and, in 6th @ 4k going 75mph is stock.

There are countless prior threads identical to this one that you should refer to. I don't shift at a fixed RPM. It depends on driving conditions. Typically ~3K-4K.

That's about right for the stock gears. The S2000 is geared very short. Makes for buzzy freeway cruising.

Look up clutch fluid change--should help with the notchy shifting. Also a heavier shift knob goes a long way--I just went from a lighter-than-stock knob to a 1 lb and it feels nicer all around.

I reserve 3k shifting for when I'm next to a cop...otherwise it's always 4k minimum, tending more towards 5-6.

I shift between 4-5K.

I tried a tank granny shifting at 3K RPM, and there was no benefits. No extra MPG, took more time to get places, and wasn't as fun.
