Yes, the topic has been talked to death, but I finally got around to getting my twin tone horns today. They're not Hellas, they're made by FIAMM (?) in France. I figure it's close enough in Europe to Germany to have the tone that I wanted

Anyway, my question is:

The horns are supposed to be BMW OEM replacements (disk type). They didn't come with relays. Should I get them? How do you power both at the same time? Splice the wires?

Thanks!

Yes, you use the same power feed to drive them both.

If you are not going to use a relay you need to check the power draw of the horns. It likely will be more than the 3 watts the stock horn draws so you will need to consider a relay or a larger fuse if you plan on using your horn and brake lights at the same time.

BTW: Hella is German made. A horn is a horn, just as long as it's not the factory horn.

Chances are you are going to have to run a new feed to the horns. Run all grounds to the chassis.

My wiring was like this:

So you don't have to run full current everywhere. A switching circuit (the horn button) uses a relay to allow the switched devices (the horns) access to power on a fused circuit.
