I have both the Amuse R1 header and the R1 extra dual exhaust (full blue). The reason I bought the Amuse R1 Extra dual exhaust was because at idle its quiet and normal driving it is only slightly louder than stock. After VTEC it is louder than stock but no way close as noisy than my friends J's N1 exhaust.
Another reason for wanting a high performance quiet exhaust is that it doesn't attract attention from the law enforcement officials. Loud intake and/or exhaust noise attracts/alerts laser/radar operators someone is coming.
IMO the Amuse R1 extra dual is the quietest high performance exhaust system out there. If you want more racy exhaust noise this is not the exhaust to go with.
Well, not quite the quietest. The Mugen is quieter, but the Amuse is really very nice. Not too loud for daily driving, but sounds great when you are going for it.
Overall, if you can swing it, I would highly recommend it. I love mine.
I like the rumble off idle along with quiet midrange in the dual Amuse. The only problem is the necessity to make more noise than you want to accelerate away from a stop. It's hard if you are next to a cop. As soon as you get to 35 mph or so it mellows out. The sound under full throttle will definitely garner some attention. The ultimate fast car exhaust IMHO.
The removal of 37 lbs in the cat back is the bang with this mod. As the weight comes off the performance rises dramatically.
I don't track my S2000 so I can only relay what it feels like after the installation.
Like many things after you install them it seems faster. The Okole (Hawaiian for butt/ass) meter reading seems to confirm this.
However, since I don't track or drag race my car I have no means to measure the difference against a clock. I don't plan to track my car as I had with past cars I owned/co-owned. The first few were with my daily driver's, then a dedicated track car (Datsun PL 510) for many years, stresses the chassis, suspension and drive train a lot. I want this car to last a long time.
On spirited driving, the S does handle a little differently in the turns now as the rear of the car is a whole lot lighter.
