Blk01S2k,
Funny you are asking that question...last week I ran against a mustang GT ~99 model, and we both ran a rolling start off of a stoplight without dropping the clutch. The GT had me in 1st gear...but at the end of 2nd gear I was even with him and 3rd gear is when I beat the GT.
On dropping the clutch...it is all about road surface. If the road is regular cement and your tires are pretty warm...a 6.5 K drop should be fine, and then feather the gas to keep the revs above 6K (I usually just hit the pedal to the floor). If you are on some pretty smooth cement or asphalt...try 7K. If you feel that the car is dipping below 6K, you dropped the clutch too low...or you need to give the car more gas after you pop the clutch.
You will be able to "feel" a good launch...your car will pull pretty hard, and when the tires catch...you should be in vtec range. People say that they get the best times when after they launch and the tires catch...you should be close to 6.5 K RPM. I always over-rev and end up about 7K when the tires catch.
Toast some Z28's for me when your car breaks in.
