Default radar detector attack

My wife was driving and I was riding shotgun today; a Porsche 911 cabrio came up behind us and when he got right to us ( we were getting ready to turn left) our radar detector went off with some type of "seizure" ( almost like it did a self-test and then shut itself off). I turned it back on and worked just fine again. Did he have some type of radar jamming device that did that or what? I have a PNI cordless unit and been pleased with the performance. Thanks

As far as I know, the so-called radar jammers not only do not work, but are in an "always on" mode, so it's unlikely the driver of the Porsche suddenly blasted you with anything. My guess is that your PNI went nuts due to the proximity of whatever detector was in the Porsche.

From what I've read about PNI detectors, I'd say it's a problem with your detector. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. There's probably a very good reason why PNI detectors cost hundreds less than the V1 and Escort models. But I'd love to hear other peoples' opinions?

Some detectors emit so much they set off everything around. That was probably what happened. The cops can use that emission to locate radar detectors in states where they are illegal.

Your radar detector has a "shutdown" function if it detect any radar detector detector.
The 911 or something in the vincinity has something that emits similar/same frequency. It could be anything

wickerbill, if your detector is used in Australia or canada, the Stalkar will pick it up with no problem
