Default Radio's anti theft feature. Does it work?

Yesterday, I installed my rear speakers. I had to unplug the HU to install the LUCID harness. When I reinstalled the plug, I was prepared to enter my radio code, but to my surprise, my radio was working perfectly.
It was nice that I didn't have to punch in the code, but I would like to think that my radio's anti theft feature works.

The process was so simple, thanks to the Lucid Harness, that it was only unplugged for a few seconds.

Could this be the reason? Does anyone know if the HU has to be unplugged for a set amount of time, or do I have a faulty unit?

Jim, if you are reading this,,, Thanks for a great product, and excellent service. I'm really glad that I made the decision to do this.

Dave

There may have been enough charge on the internal power cap to provide a few seconds of power...not uncommon. If you're really worried, unplug it again for a minute or two and it should require the code next time.

I believe the main anti-theft feature in them is when you have a stock unit. No one would want it I wouldn't think. But you never know these days

You know,,, I thought about that. I've already snapped the front cover in place, and I really don't want to pull it off again. That was a terrible feeling pulling that away from the frame. I kept feeling like I was going to tear it up.

If I don't get a definate answer, that is what I'll probably have to do.

Thanks for your input.

I would not be worried. Nobody in their right mind would ever want to steal such a wonderful headunit...

If you don't want to pull off the front door again, try removing the side "fake" speaker" grill.

alternatively if you want to test the head unit code lock then
just disconnect the battery in the engine compartment for 30 seconds or so
