Default My rear speaker install

After reading many of the rear speaker install post on this forum, I've decided to do the same using the following parts:

1) Lucid's OEM '03 radio harness (~$45)
2) Pair of Kenwood 4" 1068S (~$40)
3) Pair of XTC 4" baffle (~$7)

Total install took little over four hours, including the time to measure and cut the rear panels. The sound is indeed much improved as many indicated. I don't know how much improvement in the bass is due to using the baffle, but now I can really hear and feel the bass. It is certainly capable of more volume/bass than I need. Kudos to Lucid for coming up with the idea, and many others for posting their experience installing the rear speakers

FYI, If you replace the original radio harness with the Lucid's harness quickly enough, radio will not lose it's memory, and therefore no need to input the code nor re-enter the radio station settings. I guess there is a capacitor inside the radio that supplies power during short duration power outage.

if you can hear/feel out of a 4" speaker, then i bet the baffle helps a lot

does the rear speakers help?
i brought my car to an audio shop today, i asked them to change the front speakers and put the stock ones to the rear.

they don't recommand installing rear speakers, they said it's not worth the time & money to do the installation. They said the rear speakers won't do much improvement since they r behind the seats.

However, i've seen alot of good result from this board.

Here are the pictures of my install. For OEM radio, this is definitely a good way to improve the sound. For aftermarket head unit, I don't know...

Does lucid offer baffles for the 3-way speakers I ordered? Or do you get these someplace else?

I am sure he got them someplace else.Lucid does have them but only the 6.5" is listed on his site. I got a set of 6.5 before he listed them. I wanted them to protect the 6.5 in the doors. Just e-mail him and I am sure he can set you up.

I got the XTC baffles from Crutchfield and Kenwood speakers from Etronics. I don't think Lucid offers baffles for the rear speakers larger than 4"; probably due to very limited space in the rear. If you are thinking of adding baffle to the door speakers, I don't think it will improve the sound much, since the door itself acts as a pretty good enclosure/baffle.

Since water drains through the door when it rains, I wanted them for that. The stock baskets do the same function. I figured that the $300 speakers might last longer if I kept them dry.
