Yeah thats a problem. Non-oem rear tires on stock rims should be 245/45s

Please read this thread in the wheel and tire forum http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...&threadid=48572

Sorry to hear about yoru misfortune. Best of luck getting it sorted out.

Jay, "around 5k miles" might be significant.

A lot of S2000 owners find that the rear tires only last about 8,000 to 10,000 miles. I've inspected "new" vs '4,000 mile old" SO-2 tires, and there's a huge difference. These tires are not as good as your SO-3 in rain, but lose a good bit of their water handling ability by 5,000 miles, even more if "around 5k miles" was really 7,000 or 8,000 miles.

Anyway, there are plenty of stories on this board of people having accidents like yours with brand new S2000 cars with brand new SO-2 tires. Again, I'm sorry for your problem.

I would recommend getting new rubber all around as part of your repair process. You might as well experience handling the way Honda meant it to be.

Sorry to hear of your accident...

I had a similar problem with my tyres. I bought an used s2k few months ago, the former owner mounted on the rear 225-S02PP keeping on the front the original S02s

The car was very hairy even on dry roads and one day aggressively driving I spun (no damage to the car, the road was very wide and it was late night...).
I changed all the 4 tyres and had a new alignment done. Handling and stability has drmatically improved.

I guess it depends on the time of the accident.
Could be an icy patch that you hit.

This same thing has happened to me on more than one occasion...although, unlike you, I was doing more than 20 MPH going around the curve. Fortunately, no other cars, railings, or other obstacles were around. Bottom line: you've gotta be EXTREMELY careful with this car in the rain when you go around turns/curves, especially if you're not accustomed to RWD. It really doesn't matter what tires you have. Respect (and fear) the handling of your S when the roads are wet, folks. It may save your life.

Jay, sorry about your car. Glad to hear your OK though.
