That blows...thankfully a new windshield is cheaper than painting the car.

That sucks man.. This is why you need a beater. I remember last year when I was driving to work when it was snowing in my beater, a salt truck coming the opposite way pelted the entire car with salt like buckshot. I even told myself "luckily I'm in my beater and not the s2k.. or i would make a u-turn and get this dumbasses information"

should have got the DOT # off the truck and called the bussiness that owns it, they are responcible for that truck not being an issue on the road and any damage it causes.. this information is by law supposed to be on the side of the truck.. Calling the bussiness first , if they give you any greif then simply tell them your next call is the DOT(dept of Transportation)

Bad luck man! Reason #1 that I never stay behind any truck for more than a couple seconds.

I have a hard time believing that road salt can chip windshield glass, usually that is caused by tiny pebbles and quartz based sand kicked up by tires.

Same here, many miles of commuting on the interstate over the years has taught me that riding behind trucks quickly results in windshiled and hood chips from rocks. Fortunately salt trucks don't exist around here since it doesn't snow, but there are plenty of trucks kicking up rocks!

i wish i had thought of this but i was on my way to work and just wanted to get AWAY from the truck. it wasnt the ones who lay down the salt it was a vehicle just transporting a bunch of it and he was in the right lane ahead of me. i was in the left then a bunch spewwed out the left side of his vehicle and destroyed the passanger side of mine
all i know my passenger side of windshield is covered in chips my hood has ALOT and my front bumper has about three times as many chips as it did when i got the car (which was only in may...)
