That bites!

I have been pelted by salt while in my Jeep Cherokke and didn't give it two thoughts. If I had been in the S2K, I would have Vteched my way out of that situation post haste!

Hope there wasn't much damage.

I have a hard time believing that road salt can chip windshield glass, usually that is caused by tiny pebbles and quartz based sand kicked up by tires.
the OEM windsheild in the S is soft compared to most other cars and it nicks easily, does not surprise me that salt used for the roads would ahve done this

should have got the DOT # off the truck and called the bussiness that owns it, they are responcible for that truck not being an issue on the road and any damage it causes.. this information is by law supposed to be on the side of the truck.. Calling the bussiness first , if they give you any greif then simply tell them your next call is the DOT(dept of Transportation)
i wish i had thought of this but i was on my way to work and just wanted to get AWAY from the truck. it wasnt the ones who lay down the salt it was a vehicle just transporting a bunch of it and he was in the right lane ahead of me. i was in the left then a bunch spewwed out the left side of his vehicle and destroyed the passanger side of mine
all i know my passenger side of windshield is covered in chips my hood has ALOT and my front bumper has about three times as many chips as it did when i got the car (which was only in may...)
Quite likely it was a state, county, or city truck. Good luck with that.

my brother bent a rim and blew out a tire on his Duster and the City paid for it. It was due to a hole cut in the pavement that the cones did not properly keep traffic from driving into

City , County or State vehicles are required to follow the standards the Cities, States and Federal government put in place

Not always.
Most trucks have that "stay behind 100ft" and "not responsible for debris" or whatever painted on the back.

All they will say is that he shouldnt have been following so closely.

Still sucks and I know how you feel had what felt like a bolder tall off a truck as crack my windshield before.

My dad had a 2x4 fall out the back of a pick up on the highway and smash through windshield once. Few inches over and he would have been dead.

Lesson learned. STAY AWAY FROM TRUCKS CARRYING ANYTHING.
