Default Rant: I Hate When People Grab My Window!

Pet peeve of mine... I really hate when friends and family push and pull at my windows to open and close the doors on my S2K...

I know it is an innocent act...but it really drives me nuts.

This obviously only happens on the passenger side door... The driver door is always safe!

My buddy had pillar-less doors on his 2nd generation Acura Integra, and people did that all the time... Evenually the window did not seat on the weather seal gasket correctly anymore because the window had been bent away from the gasket through years of pushing and pulling on it...

Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, and I feel like an overbearing jerk pointing it out so I usually just cringe silently.

Same with me... I drove a friend yesterday evening and dropped him off at the train station...

He got out, grabbed the window and swung the door shut... While I was definitely cringing "silently", I am pretty sure I was cringing visibly. I think I made a facial gesture (just reflexes...couldn't really control myself). I think he saw a bit of my look as he was shutting the door and gestured to me that he wanted to say something... I rolled down the window and he asked "oh...did I shut that hard enough?" and was ready to pull the door open and shut it again!

I quickly said, "no...the door is closed and secure", and drove off...

I too feel a bit like an over-bearing jerk as well... But it still drives me absolutely nuts!!!

This gives me an idea of opening a new thread. 'What other ppl do at your car and drive you mad'?

I haven't had anyone touching the window but if that was the case I will go ballistic and probably they:
a) wouldn't be allowed in the car ever again
b) would be so scared by my reaction that they won't even dare to think of doing it 2nd time..

My pet peeve will be people slamming the doors when getting in the car.
HATE IT! I always shout 'Is this the way you are closing the doors in your car?'
-IF YES, then this is NOT YOUR CAR
-IF NO, then why you are doing this to mine?

Some people, seriously..

I use the window at the bottom near the door handle to close my door. Rather touch glass than paint.

While we are ranting...I absolutely hate how HARD people SLAM the doors!

Yup. Just politely mention it when people are about to step out. You can't expect everyone to have experience with this. It's not like you're just nitpicking -- it actually will lead to damage.

Or deal with it.

Or don't give people a ride.

Or drop the window before you let them out.

I'm normally not anal about such things but I aim for the little rubber molding at the base of the window, not touching paint or glass. I have been parking so close to the curb (max out the space to the next car over) that I usually have to step out and up to the curb, and as I'm long-legged and short-armed, that door handle is a long way down there for me.

Now that I think about it, I don't believe I've ever had someone do this to my car in the 2 years I've been driving it...

That being said, I've probably only had a small handful of different passengers in my entire time of driving it.

That's interesting... over 50% of my passengers seem to naturally gravitate towards using the window to close my door...

I don't think I've had anyone grab the window to shut the doors I guess that would annoy me I'm gonna have to check for that lol.

But the one thing that ANNOYS me to no end is the people that slam the door shut I've come to the conclusion that the doors on the s must be light or doors on other cars, domestics (especially) must be heavy. If you have a friend or friends that drive domestics watch out they will slam the crap out of your door!!! I have pointed it out to them and they're "like oh wow the door closes really easily, you barely have to touch it" smh

end rant
