The door slamming is an issue for me too... But it's also an issue on all of my other cars...

I am not sure why people feel the need to slam the door...they don't do it with the front door or interior doors in a home... I guess with car doors, because you do need some velocity to ensure the door gets latched, slamming the door increases the chances that you won't have a partially latched door and have to open and close it again... Not sure...

All of my other cars have pillared windows...so the window grabbing is only an S2K issue for me...

Seems rather odd grabbing it by the window, but slamming seems to be the main issue for me. It's a small Japanese sports car, yet people seem to think it won't shut unless you muscle it.

I'm lucky my passenger door still shuts ok, but it is to the point where I would rather walk over and close the door myself, telling them to leave it open for me to close.

That loud THUNK and it hurts your ears...
Hate that. I can't say much for an S, but driving a wagon, and being on the water polo team. People slam the door shut, open it with their foot. Makes me wanna smash their head against the dash. Then comes the trunk, slam that too.

Closing a door from the window feels really, really bad to me. Dad's TT especially.

I know it is an innocent act...but it really drives me nuts.

This obviously only happens on the passenger side door... The driver door is always safe!

My buddy had pillar-less doors on his 2nd generation Acura Integra, and people did that all the time... Evenually the window did not seat on the weather seal gasket correctly anymore because the window had been bent away from the gasket through years of pushing and pulling on it...

Anyone else have this problem?
Well put them down! They go down anyway when the top goes down #topalwaysdown

I dont like it when people touch the paint to close the door though...use the rubber seal!

The slamming of the door is a bigger issue with me I mean its a pretty small door I drive windows down often tho.

Yea...it is probably a bigger problem for me because I drive with the hardtop on...and my windows generally rolled up...

No offense, but it's just an s2000 man, chill out.

Eventually you'll get your fair share of dents, you'll burn a little oil (if you're lucky!), your top will develop some tears. It's just a car, better to enjoy than garage queen it in my opinion.

Reading the threads of the old timers back in 2000 and all the recent owners, what a difference

surprised also that Honda didn't fit the system where upon the window drops approx 10mm when the door is opened and rises back once closed as does the Audi TT and a few other cars without window frames for alignment...

Regarding slamming the doors, does this ever cause actual damage? I know it's "nicer" to not slam them, but I'm pretty sure doors aren't commonly broken or worn down to the point of failure because of slamming the door. Closing it with the window is worse, but again - has this ever actually broken anything for anyone here?

Hondas are tough. While that doesn't mean abuse it, it's not made of delicate crystal and paper mache either.
