Rant: I Hate When People Grab My Window!
I avoid contact with the glass, but I'm sure I've goofed a time or two. I generally close the door by pushing on the handle. I figure that's an area that was designed with the expectation of lots of handling. And at least if I do damage, it will all be in that one location instead of multiple scratches in a variety of locations.
I don't particularly like it when passengers use the glass or place a big yucky palm print on my door, but I don't have a lot of passengers so I try not to get too bent out of shape over it. Before I put the extended floormats in, I used to worry about the carpet on the structural crosspiece on the passenger side. THAT one I cringed at as people would step squarely on it and use it as a "dig in" point to maintain balance during the controlled fall into the passenger seat. Once my BF overheard me discussing the mats with another S2000 owner who openly lamented the damage to his carpet from people stepping on that hump. BF turned to me and asked, "Do I do that?" I said yes, especially when he was wearing his boots that have a chunky heel. He asked why I had never said anything to him about it. My reply, "Babe, I'm just thrilled you are occasionally willing to fold up your 6'5" frame and occupy that seat next to me without ever complaining how fast I drive or anything. I'm not going to bitch over a little bit of carpet."
And it's true.
But you notice I got me some extended mats though.

^^ That airbag looks like a squid! LOL! Even has eyes.
We don't have those in the S. But I gotta believe a slam that hard would definitely do damage to the power window motor, and at very least pop the glass off track if not break it outright. I'd be concerned about the latching mechanism too.

I have a Mercury Capri for shopping centre car park duty, which also has frameless windows. As a 2+2 they also have very long doors, to allow easy access to the back seat.
It's windows are very sloppy in the frames, probably due to people using the glass to shut the doors. At about 60 MPH you can hear a hiss start from the top of the drivers window, as the suction of passing air pulls the window slightly out at the top, allowing air to be sucked out.
It is worth trying to stop this happening to your S, as it becomes annoying.

I have frameless windows on all four doors of my Legacy wagon as well. I'm connnstantly after people in both cars about using the door handle to close the doors. I'm usually not too worried about finger prints on the wagon, but when it comes to the S I'm usually very clear that I only want people using the door handle for opening and closing the car.
I had a gentle talk with the gf about using the window to close the door. Now she uses the door handle if I'm just dropping her off somewhere. Otherwise, I'm usually out to offer a hand to help her out, especially if she's wearing a short skirt. Then I close the door myself.
