Hi all,

I've only had my S for about a month and a half, but I'm already hearing a rattling sound coming from my soft top when it is up. I've narrowed it down to the area where the soft top latch is on the driver's side. However, when i examined the latch, I didn't notice anything that was loose. The sound is very annoying, and I would really like to eliminate it.

Any ideas on what this sound could be?

Top might need adjustment - its a warranty fix.

I had a similar problem a few years ago. The rattling came from the latch that locks the top on the driver side. I took it in to the local dealer who applied some silicon based lubricant (gel, not spray) on the "hook" inside the latch (if that makes sense...). That worked for about a year, and whenever the rattle came back, I applied the same type of stuff, and that seems to work just fine.

 

dealer warranty is one choice, as above...

the diy fix is the air tube stuff that is used in fish tanks. cut off a small piece of it and fit it over the finger on the hook. it usually does the job at a very small cost-

 

I have some type of creeking sounds somewhere from the driver side. Its near my head somewhere, but it seems to only happen when its cold. not sure what to do because it only happens once in a while and I don't think I can reproduce the sound if I bring it to the dealer. Loving my s2k! i've only hit vtec about 20 times in the 3 months I've had it, a record? hahaha

 

hrmm, i get rattles on the passenger side not driver side.
