Default Re-using Rick's badges:

Hello everyone,
I have a set of front & rear Rick's S badges just removed from my car that I am selling. I would like to know what kind of adhesive can be used to re-apply them ? Would 3M double sided tape be too thick ? Thanks in advanced for your help.

Mark

You need 3M Automotive double sided foam tape. You can get it at good auto body shops. Don't use the DS foam tape you can buy at Target, etc., as it will deteriorate over time and cause the badge to fall off.

Most double sided tape will be too thick for this purpose. The Rick's badges were designed to be flush. I would suggest the following:
Clean off the underside of the badge of any dirt that may have gotten on when it was off the car. Don't obsess too much with getting all the adhesive off, just the dirt. Get a small piece of the thinnest 3M Scotchcal film (like they use for the Clearbra, Xpel, Stongard, etc) and crazy glue the badge to the film (put it under a heavy book while it cures. Cut it to the edge same shape of the badge. When you're ready to install them on the car, just peel off the backing. You can get 3M film down to 3mil but 6mil is typical- still very thin.

Foam tape isn't good for that purpose, you need a thin tape to prevent water and dirt from getting between the badge and the body.

High adhesive thin double sided tape is what you need:

Get the 3/4" - Red 36yds: $8.50 per roll
