I hit the magic 600 mile mark today, and decided to see what all the VTEC fuss was about. What a visceral experience! It reminded me of the time as a teen when I took out my old man's brand new '79 turbo ZX, and played stop-light grand prix just to feel that kick in the pants as the turbo did its thing. And that delightful Formula One-like scream! The sound initially scared me as much as it must have scared the drivers around me to hear that banshee-like wail. Only Honda would know how to make a small displacement engine perform and sound like this. I need to take this car to the track.

 

i have about 80 miles to go as of today... intake is coming soon, but i'm not sure if i want to throw it in there as soon as i hit 600

 

VTEC is a beautiful thing!!!

 

VTEC is great, but you may want to be conservative with it for another few hundred miles. Depending on driving conditions, breakin may take longer or shorter. I would still do it, just not on a regular basis for another 200-300 miles. But that is just me.
