while i agree his talk is childish.. he is correct on the point that you can be compensated for increased depreciation. my buddy got t-boned in his new A4 and got money out of the insurance company on top of the repairs. though i'm sure whether they cut you that check or not varies from case to case
Maybe insurance is different in Canada. Here in California you can only do this as I stated.

How do I know? Because I tried to claim the $3000 my car dropped in value after it's accident. Cannot do it unless you're willing to sell and report the losses.

Let's not argue about this, you're in a different country.

What state is that in? In many East Coast states insurance companies will screw you if you do not have a police report! The police report is proof that the accident happened where you say it did and not in your own driveway. It will also state who was responsible for the accident (at fault).
California. I take pictures at the scene to stop from getting screwed.

Childish talk or not lets be realistic. You have a vehicle that has never been wrecked before. It is in pristine condition. Someone rear ends your car (something that could have been avoided as more than 2/3 of all vehicle accidents are due to driver error.) and somehow its not their fault? Lets get off our high horses just a second. You mean to tell me you would not be upset that someone just ruined the value of your vehicle forever due to inability to pay attention to the road? I did not purchase a wrecked car. If it had been wrecked before and i purchased it that way i would be more understanding. However i did not.

Softened Ball joints, stripped axles, and warped rims are also factors that do not exactly get ruined right away from a accident as well. Who will compensate me for those issues a few months down the road? Yes i would make them regret it. Everytime they see their insurance spike they will remember that they should pay attention to the road. I could understand failure to yield at a stop light for a right turn, running a red due to bad timing, failure to recognize a right away. Those are simple mistakes however failure to look at the car in front of you? How would you justify that? What part of pay attention to the road do people not understand?
My car is not the biggest thing going in my life and it shouldn't be to yours. Honestly, the time is what kills me. Even the time it takes to get into the rental car and my car towed to the body shop. With my professional life it's hard to book out the time to run and get things done outside of work hours - and most body shops are only open during business hours. What kills me in the $1000's lost in productivity and distractions from the things that matter during the work day.... my figures.

If someone makes a mistake, blowing up at them is stupid. If they're drinking/driving and hit you, get angry.

If you're hung up on your car, never drive it. Things wear, stone chips, accidents, pot holes, if you're not careful you'll see the whole world out to ruin your perfect car.

Clue in, the car was perfect and then you got it (assuming new purchase).

I get worked up about things that cannot be replaced, like my wife. My car, is insured and is a hunk of melt. My wife dies, not getting her back. My car gets totaled, I'm on to another one and someones insurance is paying.

Was she at least cute?
Not at all... and having her pay out the pocket is a joke, she looks at it and says "It's like a $100 in damage.." well... my exhaust was 520 bitch and you put a dent into it... funny thing is she drives an oldsmobile too... I doubt I would have gotten my money if I let her pay out of her pocket

if anyone ever rear ended me they would regret it forever. It doesnt matter what the extent of the damage i would demand a new vehicle or a good chunk of money for the depreciated value. All people have to do is pay attention to avoid rear ending someone. I would be uber pissed too.
Hey man, reality just called. Your car isn't new. You would not get a new vehicle for a fender bender. Even if your state supported diminished value claims, it won't be worth the trouble. Welcome to the world of depreciating assets

Nice to read some common sense here. You want a perfect car? Don't drive it. Ever.

Some of you must be a real treat in your local communities.

Whatever you want to call it, it still isnt a clean title I'm pretty sure.
Don't titles get rebuilt or whatever for "fender benders"?

Title doesn't change. The CarFax may or may not show an accident. So, it may still end up as a "clean title," depending on the report.

I meant to say another car of equal or less value when i said new. But if you would like to nit-pick go right ahead dude.
