We can put up a pole here and find out who is and is not satisfied with their insurance payout. I'd put money on the fact that 85% of people will be dissatisfied.
Done

OP, sorry to hear about your situation. Best of luck with the insurance. Make sure you get examined for whiplash and/or other effects from the hit.

That's a 1 in 100 chance, are you sure you want to put money on it?

You would be surprised... Many many years ago I totaled a civic that I bought with wheels, body kit, etc already on it. Insurance held the aftermarket parts into account to determine how much to pay me. In the end, they gave me $1000 more then what I purchased it for the year before. So basically, I drove the car around for a year for free and came up on a $1000 profit in the end.

Just remember, what they initially offer you is not the max they are willing to pay out. So make sure you negotiate more make some arguments about value, parts, etc, the idea of bringing in a lawyer and you should be able to get more.

My roommate is an ins adjuster. I have seen him give money away for stupid shit. The ins company has a set limit they are willing to go up to and will go that high with or without an attorney. He tells me that if you have an attorney he is less likely to give you more because its more of a hassle to him to have to deal with. You would be surprised what you can get covered if you ask. Attorneys do know what to ask but in the long run they make the money not you. Half the time they negotiate your med bills down but dont tell you and then profit the difference on top of their 30-40% cut.

I have been very satisfied with ins payouts even when I was at fault. I had to prove to them the car was worth more than their initial offer but after that they payed up without a problem. Time and Time again. You are entitled to get your car fixed and your bills paid. NOT MAKE MONEY. Save us all the rising cost of ins.

Do yourself a favor and don't AX GARRRY.
