Rear GLASS Window!!!!!!
Do you also realize that break between the windows is right in the line of sight through the back! So, basically, no view at all! I think with the way Honda has engineered the convertible top, glass window is not an option. You'll have to re-design the convertible mechanism to fold differently in order to put a glass in the back!

It's probably not worth the expense involved but you can have a real glass window if you want. The trick is not to try and reinvent something that was already designed years ago. I'm referring to the two piece glass windows that were factory stock on several american cars in the 70's. The two pieces are joined via a very small flexible clear joint.
If I ever get a few hours free I'll finish mine up and send out pictures.
What would you be willing to pay for a glass rear window?

This is not an issue for me.
If it were, I would settle for a lexan-like replacement for the plastic window (without defroster) that you had to manually remove before putting down the top.
Right now I get out of the car to place or remove the protective roll for the plastic window. Slipping a lexan window in and out of a zippered pocket wouldn't be that much different.
I'm fine with the plastic. At five months and 1,200 miles (mostly top down winter pleasure) my plastic is still as good as new. That is probably due to (1) too little driving (2) Muzmat (3) rolled towel ala IvesS2K and (4) Plexus. Plus I have the hard top waiting at the dealer's so I'll have defrosted glass for those winter ski trips....after I buy skis short enough to fit in the passenger seat (190 cm skis).

Heck it's a convertable. Drop the top and the rear window is not an issue.
When the top's up keep the window clean. To prevent creases and scratches use a towel or a Miata roll when you drop the top. I had my original window replaced in October and it still looks new.
I was in Houston last week and saw a Miata with glass window and with a defroster...looked kind of nice!

top down all the time, no problem!
Ok, so I'm in California so I can do that but seriously, the back windows are a pain, but I just keep mine clean, and protect it with a Muz Mat and towel. also no problem!

As a long-time Miata owner (pre-glass top window) I'm painfully aware that the plastic rear window is the weakest part of the car - it wears much faster than everything else.
Before Mazda came out with a top with glass rear window, Robbins came out with one. It was a full sized window that was only attached at the bottom so that it didn't have to fold when the top folded. As I recall the first version unzippered and then later they created an automatic (fabric) mechanism so that it would automatically lay flat when the top was opened. I'm not sure if there is space in the S2000 for this (I don't have one), but if so then a full-sized glass rear window would be feasible.
In any case, the primary point is that the window does not necessarily have to fold like the rest of the top.
Perhaps the thing to do is to contact Robbins and see if they are already working on this. They are the primary source of aftermarket softops for most brands of autos. Even if they aren't working on it, they might start after a few friendly calls!

I've read/heard from several sources that 2002 S2000 will have a 'zippered' rear glass window option that you remove before putting the top down (similar to a miata's).
I'm sure there will be a simple conversion for '00 and '01 to use it as well.
I have no idea about the price, and maybe it will even have a plug-in defroster, who knows.
