Rear tire wear causing car to pull to right
Took S2K to dealer today to check alignment - car has slowly started pulling to right - especially with accelleration or downshifting ... Dealer just called and said no alignment problem - just too much wear on the rear tires ... anybody else experience this ? Dealer said time to put new rubber on the car. They want $250 per tire, I saw recent post here that said can get shipped from Tiretrack for $189 each. anyone know if this includes shipping? and web address for Tiretrack.... thanks !!
It's http://www.tirerack.com I believe. The $189 doesn't include shipping and handling. You're probably looking at $200 out the door. I wouldn't order it from the dealer....they almost always charge more, especially tires.

Lew - does the car pull under any other conditions. like braking?
While tire wear can contribute to pull, if the wear is even it shouldn't affect the tracking of the car. If the tires need replacing anyway go ahead and do it, then see if the pull is still there.
Like others, I recommend Tire Rack.

This may sound stupid but do make sure the right rear tire isn't low on air. The dealer should have done this but we've seen some real boneheaded dealers and it is a known issue that this car will pull when a tire is low and often it's hard to tell that the tire is low by casually looking at it.
Lew,
It is always POSSIBLE that the dealer doesn't know what they are talking about.
The most likely cause of your car pulling has been discussed here before. Check your tire pressures and make sure that they are balanced side-to-side. If they aren't, the car absolutely will pull without being out of alignment or having any other suspension problems. I have personally had this phenomenon occur with as little as three pounds difference in the rear tires.
Wear on the tires, at least in my case did not cause any pull that I could feel. HTH.

My car does the exact same thing, it pulls to the right quite substantially. My rear tires are pretty much completely gone. It began to pull right after i went autocrossing a few times and spun out here and there. I've had my car aligned and it was no help. If it doesn't bother you that much, don't waste your money on a new set of tires if you don't need them. Since my tires are GONE, i've ordered a new set of tires from Tirerack, spoke to Conner and just told him i needed new rear tires for my S2000 and he knew exactly what was up. The whole process took about 1 minute. Hopefully when i tires arrive, they'll be the RIGHT ones.
