Fast, Reliable and Cheap. Normally you can only have 2, but not with the S2000. Here are 5 definitive reasons the S2000 is better than it’s other siblings at Honda.

OF COURSE! There is no comparison nor any valid competition between the mighty thorough bred sports car S2000 and the commuter oriented Civic regardless of generation or even the Type R Civic itself. Regardless of how much $ is thrown at a Civic to make it produce 700WHP or more, it's still a Civic...a passenger, economy oriented vehicle. This article did well by stating the facts

Well there is my CTR on S2Ki and I didn't even have to post it! lol
And of course my friend's S2000s - That picture was taken by jr1de1 I think... after my first trip to the Dragon with the CTR last year, it was a break-in trip. My buddy S2KFury and I hit 600 miles on the odometer as we passed into Tennessee from Ohio. We met up with our buddies (jr1de1 Silver S2K) and Ron-San near Norris Lake and went southbound to the Dragon. We spent about half a day driving and enjoying the car and were on our way back home when we met Larrice in the black S2000 at Deal Gap. He chased me in my CTR all the way across the Dragon and I couldn't shake him What a great day and what an excellent experience, we finished this day at this spot, my favorite, and took these pictures. I consider myself blessed that I got the CTR back on June 17th 2017 - It's been a year and it's getting even better!

As much as I love the S2000, I'd take a Civic Type R any day of the week, even with costs considered.
While the S2000 frame design is amazing for a production vehicle, today's modern vehicles have made giant strides in torsional rigidity. My Civic Touring Coupe and HR-V both feel very rigid, perhaps that has something to do with the S2000 being a convertible, but what do I know. If you toss enough money into any car you can make it handle well, speed costs money how fast do you want to go ?
As much as I was disappointed by the Civic Type R having FWD I was very surprised to see how it beat RWD and AWD competitors at the track and it had nothing to do with engine power. That really opened my eyes, so if at the end of the day it can outrun the competition on the track then I don't particularly care if it is FWD, Honda obviously made it work. Now the styling thing is a different matter, not crazy about the styling of the Civic Type R, and the S2000 design is timeless. But I'd love to have a Type R.

I have been lucky to have driven my 2002 AP1 with CR springs on stock struts, CR sway bars and 17x9 square wheel set up, my 2006 AP2 with Flashpro tune, Koni Yellows with CR springs, Gendron front sway bar and 17x9 square set up too. Then my 2017 CTR on some of the best mountain road in the Southeast. All car are completely different. The two S2000 up there are so much fun to push to the limit and enjoy the handling characteristics and the way the car carves those mountain roads. I started with the 06 for many years and started the mods for that kind of driving. Then found the 02 Spa Yellow for sale in 2014 as a impulse buy seeing the car new back long ago. I would say that the 02 really taught me more about the car and how to drive them. Then one day at the dealership looking at cars for my son there was the 2017 CTR PMM. It was mine 3 days later. Only mods are the exhaust, intake and some 18" wheel set up. After taking the CTR up there in early March with some other CTR owners for a test and tune weekend. We all own S2000 and know those cars very well. We were shocked how well the car stayed planted in every turn on the Dragon. For those who havent driven the CTR is doesn't drive like a Wrong Wheel Drive Car. It was a rocket coming out of all the curves it just wanted to go. After that trip I would wonder if the AP2 could hang with the Civic. In May it was the RTD S2000 Spring event an time for the AP2 to go back up there and enjoy the roads again. I must say that the Civic almost as much fun as the S2000 the difference being the Civic has the power to put down just about anyway but the S2000 is still the driver's car. In a tight technical sections of a road or track I believe the S2000 will anyway shine. Cant wait to get back up there in either car. Later BD.

The Civic of the past 10 years is one of the ugliest vehicles I've ever seen, and it continues to get worse. I don't care how well it drives, I wouldn't be caught in public with one. Sorry if that offends the Civic owners out there, YMMV.

I would love an EK9 R for daily use. Real fun daily use of course! I would also really like to have an FK8 R as a daily driver if I couldn't get an EK9 R which unfortunately I cannot get. My S2K is of course king and is my weekend warrior, real, pure sports car
