i did my research and read up about this "secret compartment" so i knew beforehand what kind of secrets and mysteries i was getting myself into before purchasing my AP1. 4 and a half years though, thats hilarious.

I found my gas cap release within 2 minutes of arriving at the pump for the first time. Unfortunately I was unsure of how to operate it. It did not push nor twist, and I was apprehensive of pulling on it for fear of breaking off a piece of my new ride. After 5-8 minutes of twiddling and half hearted attempts I gave it a firm tug and breathed a sigh of relief when I heard the spring release.

Congrats on the discovery. I am guess that you now hold the record. I am just not sure if that is a record you want to hold.

When I bought my car back in 02...the sales man showed me all the compartments...so I never thought of it as a 'secret' and I never understood why it was deemed so.

haha we found ours about the second week. We were looking for the manuel and called the dealership. They told us it was in the middle compartment. Needless to say it wasn't in the regular compartment. I ended up going to the dealership so they could show me the secret compartment. This was before I came here so I had no idea

I found it when I traded in my '01 for my '05. Opened it up and found a letter from the previous owner to someone that had never been mailed and a half burned candle. Ended up stamping and mailing that letter. If you are on here-you are welcome and I would love to hear what was up with the candle.
