I think I found it while sitting in the car at the dealership, actually trying to find the gas tank release.

My salesman had me sit in an 06 in the showroom while my paperwork was going through to see if I could find the gas release. I knew from having driven a first gen Miata that the gas door and trunk release were both in the center console, so I looked in there, only saw trunk release, then noticed the hatch for the secret compartment. Took me another minute or so to find the gas release. . .

At least my dealer had enough sense to not send me off in the car having no clue how fill it up.

Wow...just wow. I've had mine for 3 years now. I never thought there would be more than just the glove box there!

Since you ask it that way, you must not know.

The middle compartment between the seats opens down - you need to open it to get at the other compartment. There is a compartment under the plastic windscreen just above that main compartment.

Feel under the lip and there's a button to release it. The top flips back with the windscreen and voila - THE SECRET COMPARTMENT.
haha,
u misunderstood. i knew about the compartment in the middle. but im pretty sure most people arnt familiar with the one under the passenger seat. you know, the one with the button.

Discovered it before I actually bought my S. Was riding with a friend who has an S and we came upon a Police Checkpoint. I told him I had a knife on me and he showed me the secret compartment to hide it in.
