Default Remove windshield tape--on white S2k???

I am debating the process of removing the windshield tape or not. Since some owners have had a problem ---also I want to know if the paint is clear coated underneath? And how do you remove the tape? Any comments or opinions would be appreciated

I removed the tape on my red almost 18 months ago and haven't regretted it. I think it is clearcoated like the rest of the car (I did wax the frame after removing the tape). I like the look.

Keep the tape on. The windshield on the S2000 is more upright than others so the black makes it less obvious.

Check out the Ferrari F50 or the Z8 and you'll see that their windshield's are more our style than say the Boxster's or the Z3's. They, too, have a black windshield frame.

Ultimately, it's up to you and what you like. I opted to keep mine on and it's going to stay that way.

Good luck with your decision.

I took my tape off a few wks ago.....and I LOVE the new look. I'll try and post pics soon. Took me 10 minutes max to take off the tape (VERY CAREFULLY) to find the paint underneath to be perfect and shiny O....took another 10 minutes or so to get the remaining GOOK off....nasty sticky stuff, but any bug and tar remover will do the trick.

Took mine off and much prefer it. Yes car prob. looks better with tape on with top up but mine will have top down or hardtop on 98% of the time. Mine had 2 small (dime sized) paint defects at left upper corner. Looks like primer showing through. So far AHM has refused to repair under warranty but I am still fighting it. They say I have "modified" the car so they are not responsible. Of course the district service manager also told me that the tape was put on to keep rocks from chipping the w/s frame. He wasn't able to explain why if that's the case they don't put tape on black cars!
