Default removing factory roll hoops

I see 4pt roll bars such as Mugen's that is advertised without the factory roll hoops in place. Then I see designs like Elda engineering's who's was put together with the intent of keeping the factory hoops.

Being 6'6" and determined to make the car a bit roomier for myself... would going with a design like Mugen's, or similar, and deleting the factory bars, create a bit more rearward travel in the seat?

Getting racing shells wouldn't be a problem I just want to know if the seats would be able to be moved further back without the factory stuff in place... or does the useable floor end where the factory trim begins?

The bottom half of the cockpit is formed by the car frame to form a shallow "bathtub". The factory roll hoops are attached on top of the sill of the bathtub. There won't be any extra seat travel with any roll bar.

Just wondering if anyone considered creating taller roll hoops that bolt on to the stock location? Is it possible?

I think they make those for Boxsters so they can pass the "broomstick" to get onto the track.....but I doubt they really provide much real protection.

If someone made that for the S2000 it would probably be pretty ugly since you would need to go through the plastic covers.....and it would prevent the softtop from closing too..... due to the height of the fakie rollbars....

Taller roll hoops would be a little pointless anyway. When the car is upside down, it balances on the hood and windshield, not on the hoops. When the car is rolling, just duck until it comes to a stop.

Not all of them do. I recall seeing two rolled S2000's (one recently) that rested on the windshield roll bar and roll hoops.
