Removing rust from front grille?
My Grille Tech grilles took a beating this winter and I didn't notice the discoloration until a few days ago when the sun finally appeared (after a long winter). Is there any topical solution I can rub across the steel to return it to its original silver finish? Otherwise, I am going to paint 'em black. I'm just wondering what I can use that won't damage the finish (if I got sloppy). I intend to keep the grille on while (hopefully) removing the discoloration. It's not actual flaking rust, just a light reddish-orange discoloration that has seemed to lay atop the once shiny silver finish.
Russ, I will try no abrassive cleaner first and work your way into more strong cleaner. If you think that stain is light rust then try rub with dab of Coke or Pepsi. Acid from coke actually dissolve rust. (Don't try that with Diet Coke, just kidding
) Seriously, coke works on removing rust.
Good luck.
