what do u think of this:

buying an s2k would be around 38k, right?

a rental company here rents the car for $99 a day.

splitting the cost with my friend comes to $50.

so that's 760 days of renting without maintainance costs or insurance for that kind of car.

would it be a good idea? it might make it a special occassion to drive one. it just sucks cuz i couldn't have a modded supercharged one.

all this of course assuming u had a nice ride for everyday driving (modded 99 TL Navi).

I love the s2000 regardless.

Nope, 32.5k (plus a one-way airline ticket).

If the insurance company learns that you are doing a long-term type rental (which would probably come out since they'd see all the rental paper work) then they will not cover the S2000 (or related damage) when you get into an accident.

buy it. If you rent it (not a great idea as posted above) after you've shelled out your $38K you own nothing. If you buy it you then own it. (You should be able to get this at sticker too) Then if you grow weary of it, you can sell it and recover most of your money. This car SHOULD hold it's value, hopefully like the M3's do! Same argument can be made re: leasing. Leasing is theoretically renting. You're supposed to be paying for the difference between the purchase price and the trade-in value. In a car like this, that difference should be a few thousand dollars over 2 years. So let's extrapolate: leasing should cost $125/mo + tax. ($3000/24 months) We all know that'll NEVER happen!

BUY BUY BUY!!!!!

/I understand what you're saying but I was thinking about tax and liscence, etc. Plus, I wouldn't rent it long term. Just like once every month or so. After renting it once, I realized that I coulnd't do anything with the car besides drive one person around. thanks for the input and AccordV6, shut your trap. TL's rule.

Do you believe the rental company provides rides for "free" ROFLOL?
Read the fine print.......they'll make it up trust me!
Lease or buy. I'd buy, now while there are units available in the east because easterners don't buy this type of car in the winter.
