Default Replacement Air Filter question - K&N or Comptech?

I want to get a "drop in" filter to replace the oem one. Anyone tried either the K&N or the Comptech? I figure you can't go wrong with the K&N but have heard good things about comptech overall. Any advice?

At 15k miles, I switched over to the comptech filter with the stock air box. The sound was definitely deeper especially at VTEC but honestly, didn't make any noticeable power difference.

After only 3k, the filter got dirty and instead of cleaning it and re-oiling it (oil gets kinda messy in your box) I switched back to the OEM. With that said, I'm sticking with OEM and probably add one of those spoon snorkel to my stock air box.

P.S I have a comptech filter for sale if you're interested.

Would replacing with a K&N filter make the car louder?

The Spoon drop in is a foam filter too - I did not see the difference other than the waffle finish, so I passed on the Spoon but have the intake.

spoon should be good for the price it cost. i think it sells for 150 bucks! it probably works just as good as any other drop in too.
