Default OEM filter or K&N on Comptech Icebox?

Picked up a used comptech icebox intake last night and the filter is filthy. I also heard that it's not the most efficient filter to begin with clogging airflow on the top end. Any chance that an OEM pape cone filter or aftermarket K&N can be swapped into the box? Can anyone think of any pros/cons in doing this?

Get an AFE - you will notice a HUGE difference.

Sorry, not sure what an AFE is. Any more details and why does it help?

the stock S2000 filter diameter is not the same. The comptech one is bigger. I've seen cars that have a K&N filter element in place.

AFE #24-55507 but its a tight fit. you may have to glue it on with RTV sealer. The #24-55505 will drop right in. but its shorter. I had both and there was little differnce in performance. Google AFE air filters. The foam unifilters are trash IMO. K&N does not make a filter thats fits.

AFE air filters are high-end K&N style filters.
