Default Replacing stock differential gearing?

Now, I have been reading that there are some gears you can buy to replace the stock internals of the differential, so what does that do? What is the advantage of the new gearing, better acceleration, top speed, better gearing for driving?

There is a lot of discussion around Jonny - If you do a quick search using the buttons Euclid illustrated above you will probably find something, if not, I am sure someone will answer with some help soon.

There have been many very extensive threads on this topic. Basically, a higher ratio rear gear set improves acceleration and make the car more tractable through the entire RPM range. Once you reviewed the threads, you may want to see this page: http://www.ricks2k.com/products/reargears.php
