Default reposting yokohama s drive issue

i wanted to buy a set of the yokohama s drive tires, but received this tirerack warning:

The following tire you have selected has a higher load rating than the vehicle's Original Equipment (O.E.) tires. This typically results in increased ride harshness, which some customers may find undesirable.

can someone tell me if this is enough of an issue not to purchase the tires. on the other hand, if i should go ahead and buy 'em, what should i do to mitigate this potential problem, i.e., tire pressure?

thanks.

Your best bet to resolve this is to call up tirerack and ask them.

i emailed them today, thanks. i wanted an answer from both the provider and users of the tire or of other tires that had the same warning.

hm. I bought a set of S.Drives back in December and they wore pretty well. Not overly harsh at all and pretty good in the rain. I haven't had any issues out of them what so ever. It is now time to replace my rears and I'll just get some more, I am satisfied.

I have not done an autocross or track day this year , so results may vary.

That is not enough of a warning in my book

I have S Drives and I am neither here nor there about them. My all time favorite tires are the Eagle F1's. These S Drives came with my current wheels and they have neither disappointed me nor have they gotten me so excited I wanted to phone my mom about them. I will say this though, they are a little bit noisier than I expected.

Eagle F1's for the win! When these wear out, my choice is easy.

On the street the S drives are fine - that said the S2000 is the first car I've autocrossed and I did it with my current wheel/tire setup (18" VSXXs, 225/255 S drives). With 1500 miles +/- on the S drives, they were VERY loud. I played around with the tire pressure and they stuck a little better, but I can't say these are great tires. Loud and slippery is how I'd sum them up. Im ready for a set of Yokohama Advan A048s!

Hope that helps.

thanks again. the reviews on tirerack are real positive for these, so that's why i'm thinking about getting them. mine is a DD with no track use.

if I could do it again, I wouldn't get the S Drives. I would have nutted up and picked up either RE050's or Eagle F1's.
