As far as I know. . .when downshifting from, let's say fourth to third, push in the clutch, blip the throttle and drop it into third gear, release clutch. The idea is to have a smooth transition from fourth to third, or whatever gear you are downshifting to.

Ok... you're driving 60 mph in 6th gear. If you want to rev match and drop into 3rd... push in clutch, put in 3rd gear, rev up to 6k (with clutch pushed in), release clutch. All it does is prevents you from going from 3k to 6k in an instant (what you do when you don't rev match)

Dude you need to go have some fun. Drop it into 3rd on the highway from time to time. You don't NEED to rev match, just let out the clutch calmly and steadily. Other than that, go have fun and always be careful.

Sorry i'm new at driving stick, but when you rev match, are you suppose to just side step off the clutch and it'll be smooth or are you suppose to release it somewhat slowly?

You need to get of the clutch fast.... or the whole point of rev matching is pointless.

When you blip the throttle you will increase the RPM's. You have a split second to get in gear and get off the clutch so you will be in gear at the right RPM for a smooth downshift....

If you hesitate you will make a nice throttle blip but your RPM's will drop low and when you let off the clutch in the lower gear you will essentially have defeated the purpose.
