In another thread I saw that someone had installed Rick's in an '02. The stock console cover in the '02 is vinyl and would definitely benefit from an aftermarket console cover.

If the tape comes loose, you probably didn't follow the install instructions to the t. But never matter, just email us and we'll send replacement tape. Out of the many hundreds of owners who have installed the console covers, only a few have had this problem and we glady supply the replacement tape for free. When we designed the cover, we deliberately sought to avoid the use of the snaps/bottons Honda uses. We thought they were extremely tacky looking - a cheap solution for mounting the carpet. The tape creates a smooth and taught appearance across the length of the cover.

BTW, the "wrinkles" in the leather are very natural in the highest quality leathers. Cheaper leathers have many flaws, and fillers and other coatings are used to hide them and give them a uniform appearance. Most leathers in cars have been so heavily treated with fillers and other "bulletproof" measures that the natural feel and appearance of the leather is completely eliminated.

Our console cover fits perfectly over the vinyl cover on the 2002s, so if you want to cover the vinyl with leather, and do it in different colors, or the combo colors, or add the ebroidered S2000 or Honda script logo, we can help. In fact, we'll soon be offering a GB for 2002s with the embroidery options.

On the subject of wrinkles have a look at this photo:

Notice that the leather on the top of the console cover is smooth as, but the leather of the boot is wrinkled. Interesting thing is, they are from the same hide.

Because the console cover has a rigid backing it sits flatter. When it's a shift boot, supporting it's own weight it looks wrinkled. A bit like when we get old.

Here's a close up of the red leather. Notice the natural grain. That's a cows finger print

EXTREME CLOSE UP!

Wow. You've done an awesome job on that Aus. I can't believe how smooth it is. Congratulations on your efforts.

Hmmmm - could there be a possible partnership here and yet more friendly competition in the S2000 aftermarket?

WhiteRocket,

I see that the side of your console cover has wrinkles in it too. I've seen that on another one and wondered what happened. Is that an install prob or did it come that way?
That's just the way mine hangs on the side. I could stick it down with a little more tape, but I'm not really that concerned about it.

Afraid no on the partnership. I have some of his products and wouldn't waste my time trying to compete with them so I guess that explains the lack of overlap. And I'll take any advice and encouragement he can provide but that's about it for now.

Maybe we're just a bit parochial. Heck, I'm supporting Webber in the GP and I doubt he's got a welks chance in a supernova of getting a point. Perhaps if he had one of my console covers......

As for friendly competition, that's what I intend. The original Japanese (BYS??) console cover was fine product but too expensive. Rick's product was a drastic improvement and has been very popular. I saw some areas where I thought it could be improved and think I've managed to carry it through. And still at a very good price. So the end result is the consumer benefits.
