Very easy install. I've got the perforated black with red stitching and love it! You don't realize how cheesy the stock one is until you see the Rick's.

Without a doubt. I purchased mine many years ago when Rick first started producing them. I've got black with red stitching. It is as nice today as the day I purchased it. Looks like it was made for the car and, as someone else noted, it is an easy install. Extremely pleased with this enhancement.
With the help of a fellow board member (thank you again 2X6speeds!) I installed the shift boot on my now sold 2001. Without a doubt Rick's shift boot imporved the look and feel of the car. Its a very nice piece and I was completely satisified with the quality of the piece.
Unlike the other posters above, I did not find installation to be easy. We had a bitch of a time removing the old shift boot without breaking some of the tiny pegs in the assembly. Maybe we were being too delicate but it took quite a bit of time to get the old assembly off and the new one properly installed without breaking anything.
In the end, it was worth it. I haven't installed one on my 2002 yet but that's primarily because I'm not sure if I'm going to get Ricks' steering wheel as well and that will change the color combo I do.
Good luck.
BTW, in my experience Rick and his little team are great guys who offer exceptional customer service. I've bought a shift knob and X brace from him for my 2002 and the aforementioned shift boot as well as center console for my 2001.
Is it worth the money? Absolutely! There are many universal shift boots out there that cost slightly less than Rick's but their quality and fitment is a far cry. In fact even those that cost up to twice of Rick's can not match its quality.
Is it worth the time and trouble to install it? Well, like Da Hapa said, I did not find the installation to be easy. It took me 1.5 hour to do mine carefully. Breaking the melted seals that hold the console and bracket ring together is the biggest PITA in the installation. I used heat to melt them off instead of chiseling them off. A full instruction is downloadable on their site, so I'll let you be the judge of whether if it's worth it.
ps. If and when you order, I suggest you specify which texture you prefer in your shift boot - whether it be more grainy or smooth.
Yes, it is worth it.
No, it is not easy, at least in my experience. I broke a few of the little pegs and then, at one point, I broke the plastic shift boot ring--the one that scratches so easily.
In the end, I ordered Honda JDM titanium trim to cover the broken plastic shift boot ring and that perfectly solved my problem. Also, I don't have to worry about the plastic ring scratching. The leather is better than the vinyl
The vinyl shift boot on my '93 Prelude has worn in a few places. That won't happen on the leather one I got from Rick.
Do it. Get intimate with your car. If you break the trim piece like I did, you can get a new console cover or a titanium piece or perhaps a carbon fiber one.
