Help someone who's stupid (me ).

I got Rick's shift boot, but my car is MY 2002 and the instructions are for a pre 2002 MY. I can't figure out how to get the boot holder thing off the center console? The instructions say you can easily pry it off, but I've been almost breaking my trying to get it to come loose.

Anyone with a 2002 or 2003 have the boot on their car? If so, what part of the instructions do I need to modify?

I got as far as taking off the shift knob and nut.

Any help would be great! I did a search and came up empty.

Thanks,
Dave

I have one and it's nice. I bought a plain black one, so I wasn't expecting a massive improvement. Broke a few of the small pegs installing it, but in the end it went on okay and I have no complaints. I don't think there's a world of difference, really, unless you are buying a different color than stock to spruce up your interior.

Mine is a 2002, but sorry, I don't remember deviating much from the instructions... Maybe search for a thread with some install pics and so forth?

It's a worthwhile mod. The leather feels so good compared to the cheesy-ass Honda vinyl that comes from the factory. No comparison. Since I changed the color of my boot to match the red interior, it's a significant boost in the aesthetics department as well.

Ten years after purchase, the vinyl shift boot cover in my '93 Prelude has some wear and delamination. I won't suffer this disappointment in 2011 when I'm driving my ten year old S2000.

No, it is not easy, at least in my experience.

Those are stick-on. The are JDM Honda titanium pieces that have double sticky tape. You apply them over the original.
