I ripped mine last year because of that control arm wasnt locked back in. they said i did it and that the top couldnt have caused it. the regional manager came and looked at it. he gave me a good faith repair (saved me 2500 bucks). honda is good about helping their customers, you shouldnt have a problem if you make it very clear that this is an issue with their product.

 

I have the exact same tear in the exact same location. I am going to Concelli Honda in Conshohocken, PA tomorrow. Will keep you posted on how it turns out. PM me with your results if you remember!

Well. I went there this morning and am waiting a call back (The HondaCare office doesn't open until 9am Pacific time)
