Installed the AEM CAI a few weeks ago. Now have an empty front trunk like the VW Bug. In order to make it look a little nicer I ordered the RM Racing front frame cover. Here are some installation notes and photos for those who may want to do the same.
1) The front frame is 3 1/2" deep and hollow. The frame cover is shipped with 2 - 1" hex bolts. NFW this was going to work for me. A little help. I purchased 2 - 5/16"x4" lag bolts with 1 1/2" washers. Much easier to fish this bolt through and not lose it in the frame.
2) The frame cover is about 1/2-3/4" to long in the front. I centered the frame cover and marked the center of the AEM CAI down tube. I marked a spot about 1" up from the edge of the frame cover (1" is too much as you can see in the photo) I then used a 4" speaker stencil to make a symetrical pattern to cut. I used a Dremel tool with the router attachment and standard cutting bit to cut the semi-circle. Then mounted and of course polished.
Thanks to Rick Hesel and S2KRob for the advice on cutting the aluminum.
