Don't know the weight on an Enzo, but if it's over 3000lbs in my opinion it is a GT car not a sports car. A 911 is clearly a GT car not a sports car. To the guy who said I was describing roadsters, I guess I was, a roadster and a sportscar are one in the same to me. Bigger, heavier, non opentop cars are super coupes or Gran Turing(GT) cars. I grew up in the era of TR4's, MG's. Austins. These are sports cars. The idea that a Corvette is the American sports car that was being sold to the public in those days I always thought was comical.

No point in arguing semantics here, but a GT in my eyes is a "sporty car" made for cruising and comfort at speed. The archetypical GT's are the SL500, Jaguar XK, Aston Martin, BMW 850i. You can *maybe* make the argument for the 911 (although I don't buy it)

The Ferrari Enzo is a no comprimise, hardcore sports car. Schumacher said it was the closest to F1 on the road today. It weighs over 3000 lbs (not much, but it does...3009lbs) and I believe it has a nonremovable top. There is nothing GT about the Enzo. You can't call a car without a radio a GT.

And the Mclaren F1 has three seats and a hardtop -- again NOT a GT.

What really rankles is that was the only reason the Elise placed ahead of the S2000 ... even if they'd just been rated equally on the fuel economy, the S2000 would have been ahead.
Exactly! I agree. I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this point. I wrote a letter back to R&D, which I've never done before in my life, addressing this flaw in their evaluation. They must receive hundreds of letters so I doubt it'll get through. Still, it'll be sweet if my response shows up in the next issue.

The Lotus is a nice sports car with true differentiation. But please, 19 mpg with a claimed 26/38? What a joke.

One can always pick holes in comparisons of this sort.

The S2000 only scored high on one of nine sections at the track - the sweeper - and was below average in the other eight sections. It was last in two, and next to last in two others, yet in the text it says it cut up the track like a skilled surgeon with a scapel. Seems like the Lotus owners could have something to write about as well.

A car which compairs favorably with cars two, three and four times its price must be a great car.
