Roads to ride?
Looking for good, fun roads on which to exercise the S when a track day is not imminent. Couldn't find an existing thread on this, so here goes. Nothing like having a favorite stretch of road where the traffic is sparse, the turns are inviting, and it's not too far from home. Since I live in the SF Bay area, I'd really like suggestions near here (but perhaps a data base of suggestions by region is called for).
What I've found so far -- my favorite loop is to get to the base of Hiway 9 in Saratoga, go up 9 (6 miles, great road), turn N. on Skyline (35), go about 12 miles to 84 (La Honda Rd), turn left, go down towards the coast about 8 miles. Turn around at the light (at the one-lane portion of the road) before you get to La Honda, and go back up (this is really the best part). Continue across 35 and down 84 to Portola Rd, Sand Hill Rd, and I-280 back home. I usually do this at night -- after 10:00 -- but have had good luck doing it mid-afternoon mid-week (avoid it on the weekends). Need to watch out for fog and the occasional deer after sundown. Being so close to the Bay Area, it's not ideal, but it ain't bad. About a one hour loop from my place.
So what else is out there? I'm willing to bet there are many other great roads within an hour of my home (south Bay).

You're probably better off asking your fellow Bay Area members this question.

This guy has already done all the research for us, including in the SF area
Check out his web site (great motorcyle roads = great S2000 roads!)

The best road I can think of is in Hawaii on Oahu. I know it is far away but if you ever get over there it is the shit! We used to take our sportbikes on it, lots of switchbacks with slow corners and good long straights. It is up in the mountain close to Honolulu, you can see Diamond Head clear as day. With a sportbike it takes 15 minutes of hauling ass to finish the loop. I know somebody that still lives there knows exactly what I am talking about. God I miss that place
