Default Robbed of my keys

Hi guys,

My girlfriend and I were robbed yesterday of a cellphone and my car keys.

While I'm waiting for the dealership to open I thought I'd ask the gurus here for some information on what I need to do to be able to drive my car.

I got an estimate for the locksmith to come and open the door for $95.

Once I get into the car , how am I supposed to get the ignition and stuff replaced? Do I have to tow it to the dealer or can this be done a different way?

I've already heard replacing this stuff will be big $$$$, just hope the damage isn't too much

Thanks guys...

The dealers can recode the alarm system its not too expensive, do you not have spare keys? If you do you should think about moving the car away from your house tonight in case they find out where you live through your cellphone? It only takes 20 minutes to recode spare keys by the dealer the current code should be in your manual or on their computer

Unfortunately I bought my car used and it didn't come with a manual or spare. I'm kicking myself in the ass now for not getting a spare made. You live and you learn.

I'm really hoping I don't have to get it towed....

Contact the dealer the car will be listed on their computers anyway so they will be the only ones that can help you unfortunately, if the cars at your house might be a good idea to box it in with another car or two if possible for safety, get the dealers tomorrow and get a spare key FFS they arent that much

If the stole your keys I'd say there is a really good chance they'll be coming for the car. Another S owner here had that happen to him.

I'd just get spare keys made at the dealer asap and in the mean time box the car in if you can so it can't be driven off without trouble. Short of staying up all night with a shotgun, its probably the best you can do. I'd only get a locksmith if you had something inside the car that you needed or need to secure.

Another option is to install a secondary fuel cut off. This is a little toggle that will cut the ignition or fuel and can be installed at any stereo shop for about $50.

Or pull the fuse for the fuel pump.

If you do not have any keys left at all you will need the car to be towed to a HONDA dealership. They will pull the key code from the VIN and cut you a key for a bout $40 or so and then will program the key to your ECU another $40-90 depending on the service tech (it only takes 5mins to program the key). Your old key won't start the car anymore (make sure to tell them to reset it so the old key won't), but unfortunately it wil unlock the doors and steering column... I have done this on several occasions and will be doing the same thing tommorrow due to a theft recovery I bought that was missing an ECU.

Good Luck!
