I'm thinking few people will see this post for rollbars in the Site Info Forum...

Rollbar extensions?
The plastic bodywork would have to be severely cut to try and bolt extension onto the OEM bars and then there would be no for/aft support and if a track requires a rollbar there is a very good chance they will require for/aft support.

Real Rollbars
Rollbars are a tricky thing with this car. Very few companies have started mass-producing them and lots of people have had custom bars made. The one pre-made bar I know of is from Cusco, you will have to search out on your own on how to buy one, I gave up when I realized it was not built as strong as I wanted and is not applicable for an '02 because glass windows don't bend like the plastic ones.

I myself am in the process of having the Triple-H Rollbar designed and made. I wanted a rollbar that did not cause me to hack all up the interior of my nice new car. I want a bar that is strong, safe and does not destroy the interior plastic trim or cause it to be removed. One such option that replaces the OEM bars and leaves the interior dramatically changed is the Bitterman Bar, search for that and check it out.

I should have my bar completed in about three weeks and then I will be posting lots of pictures. Remember, it will be the Triple-H Rollbar, you can search for that in the near future.

There is another bar that was done a while ago that did not cause all of the interior to be ripped out but it did not fit my needs. I can't remember who was the one who posted about it, but I do remember he mentioned it was welded in and not bolted in. Try a search for welded.

Thank you for the info and I was under the impression there were quick bolt on extensions to the existing horseshoe that would not interfere with the existing roll bars. I am going to Watkins Glenn next Sunday and am in a bind because I don't have 2 inches clearance between the existing roll bar and the race helmet. My club only requires the height and not a full major renovation. Any further info would be of great appreciation. Thanks.

Check out the bitterman bar.. you can find it on a search.

Trying to bolt something on to the stock bars would NOT be safe. I sure wouldn't trust it.

I'd argue the statment about the bitterman bar leaves the interior dramatically changed.

You can actually put the stock plastic hoops back in after installing the bar. They have to be cut some, but look just fine.

What krazik says is true. Recent customers for the Bitterman Rollbar have put the plastic back in with some cutting. If you want more information, please contact me at aaron@speedventures.net or 323-461-4795.

I'll try to get DavePK to post pictures of his install.

They have been posted... not by bitterman as it's a pretty recent mod. Getting them now.

First off.. Here's my car w/ the roll bar in and interior not replaced yet.

next here's Dave PK's. his was somewhat hack job was the "First" attempt. Mine will be the second attempt and should be cleaner. (learning from other's mistakes)

In a nutshell NO aftermarket roll bar is going to get you any extra protection without some sacrifice to the interior. But you can make it look pretty close to stock with the bitterman bar.
