You're not injured; no innocent bystanders were harmed. That's a pretty good outcome; I know it's tough to look at it that way, but 10 years from now this incident won't alter your life one iota. Which would not be the case if you'd suffered crippling injuries or harmed an innocent bystander.

Also note that some tires change compound characteristic when the tread block is gone. I know that wasn't the case with this particular "accident."

Glad the OP is handling this in a mature way and not shirking responsibility. Good on you! Now take it to the track (like people are saying).

Stage rally (what you were trying to do) is really high up on the driving food chain. Unless you're really experienced, you're asking for trouble.

IMHO, autocross is nice because it takes out elevation and road conditions (for the most part) from the equation and you just get to learn physics.
Track adds some elevation changes and higher speeds. Some track have surface changes.
Rally adds the element of "reading terrain." It's NOT easy and not for "playing around."

Glad to hear you are ok. I imagine the insurance company would call it totaled based on the damage versus worth. Good luck with everything!!!

Tire compound at the base is made for shape and support, not traction. Once you wear the tread off, you no longer have a good tire.

And a flipped S = totaled. The frame is designed to save you in a rollover - which it did - but the stress on it is a one-time deal.

Glad to hear you walked away from that - rollover at speed is quite dangerous.

Glad to hear you're alright. I just don't understand convertibles. Looking at that picture, it seems like your head would hit the pavement looking at the way the car is laying. The rear hoops are lower than the top of my head, and the windshield is only about 2-3 inches higher than the top of my head. I guess you naturally tend to duck down when something like this happens? Still the windshield looks partially collapsed.

Hope you weren't trying to take lessons from this guy:

I can expect more of this kind of thing now a days from more young inexperienced drivers obtaining cheap ap1's.
I thought you were joking lol He was the second post..

Look at the picture again. While the windshield frame was probably bent, it is still supporting the car providing space for the driver (and/or passenger) to survive. A Boxster, Miata, Solstice, or other similar roadster would have collapsed flat to the door frame (see the multiple pictures in the wrecked threads).

OP: You're stupid for driving like that while not on a track, but lucky that you were driving one of the few roadsters with a sufficiently strong windshield frame to support the car. You ought to be giving thanks to Honda for saving your a$$.

Glad to hear you are ok, but as others have said, leave that kind of driving for the track or autocross course. Fortunately no one else was involved, but you could have easily injured or even killed someone.

What tires were you using? And suspension mods?
